How to Design a Bead Loom Pattern
Set Your Band Width
The canvas opens at 24×36. Resize to your project — 9–13 beads for a narrow band, 15–25 for a standard bracelet, more for cuffs and panels.
Pick a Delica Color & Draw
Click a color from the Miyuki Delica palette — its DB code shows on hover. Click or drag cells to place beads; use fill for solid background runs.
Build Borders and Motifs
Work one motif at a time and repeat it with copy/paste. Use undo freely — the designer keeps 50 steps of history.
Export PDF & Warp Your Loom
Download the PDF chart with DB codes and bead counts per color. Tape it next to your loom and weave row by row.
Features
Miyuki Delica Palette with DB Codes
A curated set of ~40 common Delica 11/0 colors, each labeled with its DB code — opaque, matte, silver-lined, and metallic finishes covered. What you design maps directly to tubes you can buy.
Bead-by-Bead Drawing
Pen tool places individual beads; fill bucket covers large background areas; color picker samples placed beads; eraser removes. All bound to keyboard shortcuts.
Loom-View Rendering
The grid renders as vertical Delica cylinders over faint warp threads, so your design reads exactly the way the finished piece will sit on a real loom.
Bracelet & Cuff Friendly Sizing
The canvas opens at 24×36 — a standard cuff width — and resizes to anything from a narrow 9-bead band to a wide wall panel. Existing beads are preserved when you resize.
Unlimited Undo & Redo
Up to 50 steps of history. Experiment with borders, motifs, and color runs freely — Ctrl+Z brings you back.
Runs Entirely in Your Browser
No software to install, no account to create. Your pattern data never leaves your device.
What Is a Bead Loom Pattern Designer?
A bead loom pattern designer is a blank-canvas drawing tool — the opposite of a photo converter. Instead of turning an image into a chart, you draw the chart yourself, bead by bead. This is the right tool for designs that don't start from a photograph: geometric borders, arrow and diamond motifs, name bracelets, and traditional loomwork patterns.
Every color you place corresponds to a real Miyuki Delica DB code. When your design is done, the PDF export lists each DB code and how many beads use it — so you buy exactly the tubes you need. Delicas are uniform 11/0 cylinders, which is why loomed rows sit perfectly straight and read like pixel art.
MakeBead's bead loom designer runs in the browser with no installation. Draw at any width, resize as you go, and export a print-ready chart the moment you're ready to warp your loom.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between this and the bead loom converter?▾
The converter takes a photo and auto-generates a loom chart. This designer gives you a blank grid to draw your own original pattern — ideal for geometric bands, borders, and name bracelets that don't exist as photos.
What width should I make a loom bracelet?▾
A standard bracelet is 15–25 Delicas wide (~3–5 cm); narrow bands run 9–13 beads. The canvas opens at 24 beads wide, and you can resize at any time without losing your work.
Does the PDF include DB color codes?▾
Yes. The export lists every Delica color you used with its DB code and bead count, plus grid lines and bold guides so you can weave row by row straight from the printout.
Can I design a repeating border pattern?▾
Yes — draw one repeat of the motif, then use copy and paste from the select tool to duplicate it along the band. The mirror of a motif is one flip away with the selection tools.
Can I weave the pattern with Toho or other seed beads?▾
Yes — the grid is brand-agnostic. Match each DB code to the equivalent Toho Treasures code with any conversion chart. Round seed beads work too, though rows will skew slightly compared to cylinders.
